Haus Meier
Karlstraße 3, 32756 Detmold
The house in Meierstraße:
In April 2017 this house, built in the 17th century, has been completed. We offer high-quality and modernly furnished apartments with real wood floors in the middle of the city center.
A Detmold citizen's house from the 17th century. On the basis of thorough dendrochronological investigations conducted during the course of the refurbishment in 2016 by the historian Dr. Michael Sprenger, the construction period of Haus Meierstraße 8 could be dated to the years 1687-1695. At this time, Count Simon Heinrich (1649-1697) was the lord of the county Lippe-Detmold.
In this more than 300-year old history, the house owners orifginated from diverse social backgrounds. Officers, dyers, mayors, shoemakers, carpenters, merchants, and innkeepers were among them.
On the ground floor of the building, you will find the restaurant "Theotmalli". Detmold was first mentioned in 783 as Theotmalli. The name derives from the Old High German-Old Saxon name for a people's court (Theot = people and Mahal = court).
In the upper 3 floors of the house Meierstraße 8 we offer a total of 9 holiday apartments of different sizes and individual layouts for our guests.
